Meet Vince and April! This dancing duo from the Burlington studio are no strangers to the ballroom or social dance floor! NAME: Vince and April
LEVEL: Silver 1
Vince: IT at the Broad Institute
April: Scientific Sales for PerkinElmer
HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN AN ARTHUR MURRAY STUDENT? 5 years this month
WHY DID YOU START DANCING AT ARTHUR MURRAY? We had exhausted what the adult education in town and the nightclub single lessons could offer. We wanted to dance salsa and ended up staying for everything else.
WHAT BENEFITS DO YOU GET FROM DANCING? Time with my spouse, relaxation, new friends, better posture and lower blood pressure, more confidence, the chance to use the other half of our brains, therapy – 5 minutes in the studio and we totally forget the workday! An excuse to shoe shop.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE STYLE OF DANCE?
Vince: Hustle because we can use it everywhere.
April: Merengue (you can dance without spilling your drink) and rumba (romantic) when in the Caribbean. On a Friday or Saturday night, my favorites are cha-cha, hustle and swing. My favorite at the moment is Viennese waltz because I found the prettiest song and want to swoop across the floor.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE ARTHUR MURRAY EVENT?
Vince: Fall showcase because I have to time participate.
April: Spring graduation (Medal Ball) because the dress is elegant, people are deservedly proud and happy, and there’s plenty of room on the dance floor.
TELL US ONE THING PEOPLE WOULD NOT KNOW ABOUT YOU?
Vince: Dancing is in my family. My great uncle was a ballroom dancer and my aunt used to run the Arthur Murray studio in Pittsburgh.
April: I was most certainly a can-can girl in a previous life.
