HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN AN ARTHUR MURRAY STUDENT? 9 months
WHY DID YOU START DANCING AT ARTHUR MURRAY?
I loved watching old-time musicals when I was young, and ever since then I’ve wanted to learn to sing and dance like Rita Hayworth or Ginger Rogers. So at the beginning of the year, I decided to take the leap and sign up for dance lessons.
WHAT BENEFITS DO YOU GET FROM DANCING?
I find dancing rewarding in many ways. It’s a fun way to get exercise, relieve stress, and meet new people. The greatest benefit for me is how dancing has helped in my own personal development. It’s challenging to learn new skills, and it’s especially daunting to perform in front of an audience. Working in such a supportive environment has helped me recognize my own capabilities and given me a sense of accomplishment.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE STYLE OF DANCE AND WHY?
I prefer the Smooth style of dance, with tango and waltz being my favorites. The movement and flow of these dances feel more natural to me. However, I have to admit the Rhythm dances are growing on me.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE ARTHUR MURRAY EVENT AND WHY?
I haven’t been to many events, but I enjoy the cozy, positive atmosphere of in-studio events like Spring Showtime and Newsome Twosome. It’s always a pleasure to see the routines my classmates have been working so hard on, and to cheer them on.
TELL US ONE THING PEOPLE WOULD NOT KNOW ABOUT YOU…
I practiced Taekwondo for five years prior to Ballroom dancing, plus I have some experience with Jiu-jitsu and Kickboxing.
