While some of you may have spent this past weekend enjoying fall harvest activities like apple picking or visiting a pumpkin patch, your Arthur Murray Instructor was harvesting something different!
Twice a year, over 300 Arthur Murray instructors, managers, and franchisees hail from Boston to Montreal, and everywhere in between! They come together for a weekend of dance training, seminars, and team building. This year, our annual Fall Forum featured some of the best Arthur Murray experts in the business.
“WE’RE NUMBER ONE, NOT TWO, NOT THREE, NOT FOUR. WE’RE NUMBER ONE, AREA ONE!”
The chant roared through the ballroom as we kicked off day one! Our featured speaker and trainer came all the way from Fort Worth, Texas! She is none other than Britt Evans. Dance shoes laced, notepads opened, and eyes gazed, Britt shared with us the importance of the Arthur Murray community. She taught us how acceptance, empowerment, attention, and unity can make the Arthur Murray experience one that is far above the rest.
The first dance session featured 2 time, 10 dance world champion, Iveta Lukosiute. This international dancing superstar taught us that you gotta put that swing with that sway!
But first, 10 burpees to warm up she said!
“IF YOU DON’T SWING, THERE IS NO POINT TO SWAY…” – IVETA LUKOSIUTE
During these exercises, Arthur Murray instructors are given certain skills to take them out of their dancing and teaching comfort zones. By learning additional components to frame, footwork, and arm styling, your instructor is taking their dancing and teaching ability to the next level.
Later on in the day, New Jersey’s Christina Garced, Arthur Murray Master Coach favorite, Daniel Heroux, and Benjamin Guadalupe on the drums, turned up the heat by teaching us the importance of musicality in dancing! Learning how to put steps and groupings to different rhythms, tones, and beats allows us to help a dancer to not just hear the beat, but rather feel the beat.
The ball gowns and suits came out Saturday evening as we celebrated the achievements of some of our fellow staff members.
Boston area staff members, Melissa Friebe, Matt Walsh, and Nicole Merola are headed to Las Vegas to compete at the national All Star competition! All Stars recognizes top achievers in the business. Competing as a team, they will be put through a series of tests to judge their abilities and knowledge of the business at the 2015 Superama.
After a lengthy first day of training, and then dancing the night away with fellow Arthur Murray pals at our staff dance party, your Arthur Murray instructor piled the bacon and eggs high on their plates Sunday morning to kick off day two of Fall Forum!
Daniel Heroux and Kelly Stangel challenged the instructors to isolate parts of their body, that some didn’t even know they had! Instructors worked on their own set of isolations first, and then paired up to put it all together!
As the afternoon sessions came to a close, Britt Evans left us with this…
“TRY NOT TO BECOME A MAN OF SUCCESS, BUT RATHER A MAN OF VALUE” -ALBERT EINSTEIN
As professional dancers, teachers, studio owners, and managers, our professional successes are only attainable through our performance and purpose within ourselves, through our studio, and with our students.
So, as you reflect on the weekend and what brings value to your life, hopefully the Arthur Murray community you belong to comes to mind!

…By the way, after that successful harvest last weekend, make sure to bring a piece of apple or pumpkin pie in for your favorite AM instructor! They earned it right?!
